Gameplay Notes
Enemies spawn in waves from the centers of each wall. Keep the board clear by dodging and shooting them. Collect temporary powerups whilst doing so.
Move in eight direction with the D-Pad, and shoot in eight directions with the four buttons. The level is endless; aim for a high-score.
Walk over any item to automatically collect it. Items will expire if not collected within five seconds of appearing. Items appear often, but their spawn locations are randomized. You may want to ignore money and prizes in undesirable locations.
The shotgun powerup is very powerful, and comes with thirty-six shots. Try to use its ammo wisely.
What is this game?
"Smash" is a top-down 'twin-stick' style shooter. It's based on Super Smash TV.
Programming Notes
The visual and audio design of the enemies in this game are based on the metal enemies from area two of the original, yet their movement behaviour is instead based on the regular enemies of area one. This combination was chosen solely due to preference.
Most 'bonus prize' dialogue references my other projects featured on this website, typically with absurd twists. "GIANT DOUBLE-ENDED MATCHSTICK" links to the visual design of the gates in Geometry, another endless-level based game with gradual ramping difficulty.
