NES Replica of Syobon Action

I completed this game's mechanics in May 2024.
*Level 1 was fully finished in August 2024.

Gameplay Notes

Like most 2D platformers, go to the right to reach the end goal. However, in secret, this is a trap-filled puzzle game, masquerading as a Super Mario rip-off.

The core levels of this game haven't been finished yet, but my current plan is to base the levels off levels 1-1 to 1-4 of Super Mario 2 [Famicom]; aka the 'Lost Levels' in Super Mario All-Stars.

Although the original almost perfectly replicated levels 1-1 to 1-4 of Super Mario [NES] for its own levels, the game's movement is very unfaithful to Super Mario 1's 'heavy' movement. For my version, I've replicated Super Mario 1's movement near 1:1.

What is this game?

"Syobon" is a 'joke' 2D puzzle-platformer. It's based on Shobon no Action.

Additional Notes

The original Shobon no Action from 2007 was rather poorly made, with a number of obvious flaws. Due to the ridiculous premise of the game though, this trait actually fits quite well.

A Shobon no Action fan-game was the first video game I ever programmed* and shared online, using the software Construct 2. *Depends on if you'd equate using that software's event sheets as 'real' programming. My first version was so poorly made that I scrapped the entire thing one level away from release. With that said, version two's event sheet wasn't much better - looking at it now, I cannot understand practically anything that's going on.
