Replica of Super Smash TV
I completed this game's prototype in July 2025.
Gameplay Notes
Enemies spawn in waves from the centers of each wall. Move in 8 directions with the D-pad, and shoot in 8 directions with the buttons. Collect powerups.
The visual & audio design of the enemies in this prototype are based on the metal enemies from area 2 of the original, but their movement is based on the regular enemies of area 1.
Almost all of the mechanics are 1:1 to the original game, with the most noticeable difference being difficulty ramp-up (all sprites gradually move faster after a while), very akin to Geometry.
Most 'bonus prize' dialogue references my other projects in absurd ways. Since I've already mentioned Geometry, as an example, "GIANT DOUBLE-SIDED MATCHSTICK" links to the visual design of the gates in that game.
What is this game?
"Smash" is a top-down 'twin-stick' style shooter. It's based on Super Smash TV.
Additional Notes
This game was extremely easy to program compared to my other projects. The prototype build showcased in the gameplay video above took just a weekend to complete.
Almost half of this game's development length was me manually drawing the player sprites, as I was unable to rip them from the original game. You might notice the 'spread' weapon has no differentiating sprites; I'd gotten tired of drawing them!
